Carrboro Hillside House
Amazing house of 235 m2 for the architect couple Youn Choi and Doug Pierson and their children.
A plot of land with an area of almost 5,000. m2 is adjacent to a wooded area of 5 hectares. The terrain is irregularly shaped, difficult to develop, with a steep slope, stream and dense forest.
The owners used all these features and created a minimalist form of the house. The architectural profile reflects the natural topography as it rises and turns upwards from the stream towards the hill. The house also reflects the spatial journey inside. When establishing sustainable construction, Choi and Pierson used every pine tree cut for construction and made floors, cabinets and cabinets from it.
A sophisticated palette of materials was used for the construction: polished concrete, black corrugated sheet and glass. Everything underlined with a clear line. The whole is complemented by large glazing, produced by AWILUX on the Aliplast Superial system.
Our photos are taken right after assembly, but at this link you can see how the investors have arranged the house: Architectmagazine
